EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to Odo, the directive followed instructions from the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
He stated that key national matters would be considered during the session.
“I am directed by the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to inform all distinguished senators that the Senate will reconvene plenary session as follows: Date: Tuesday, Feb. 17, by 11 a.m.
“Consequently, all distinguished senators are kindly requested to note and reschedule their engagements accordingly to enable them to attend, as very crucial decisions will be taken on national issues during the session.”
The development comes despite the chamber’s earlier adjournment of sittings to February 24.

Last week, the Senate reconvened for an emergency plenary to deliberate on the controversy surrounding the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2026, particularly the provision dealing with compulsory electronic transmission of election results.
