Residents said police officers had stationed their patrol vehicle at a junction in the area, allegedly waiting to apprehend commercial motorcyclists operating on the route. During the operation, a motorcycle carrying Bakare approached the junction.
The police minibus allegedly struck the motorcycle, causing the rider and Bakare to fall.
A witness, Moshood Oshunfurewa, said the collision happened at Layinka Street near KD Bread, close to Arumoh Street. According to him, residents were gathered under an LED streetlight at the junction when they saw the police vehicle hit the motorcycle from a short distance.

He said the pregnant woman fell and cried out in pain, prompting residents to rush to her aid, while the officers allegedly moved the motorcycle to the station.
Bakare told reporters that she was returning from a hospital where her sister was in labour when the incident occurred. She said the rider had slowed down at a T junction when a minibus suddenly hit them, knocking them to the ground.
She sustained injuries to her arm and leg and expressed distress over concerns about her pregnancy.
Bakare alleged that the officers initially showed little concern and attempted to take the motorcycle away until residents confronted them because of her condition.
A video circulating online showed Bakare in visible pain following the incident. Another resident, who spoke anonymously, claimed it took more than three hours to stabilise her condition. He added that the conduct of some officers has become a source of concern within the community.
The resident also pointed out that Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area is not among the councils covered by the Lagos State Transport Law restricting commercial motorcycle operations in selected local governments and local council development areas.
While acknowledging the state’s regulatory efforts, he said enforcement should not put lives at risk.
Clashes between police officers and commercial motorcyclists have remained a recurring issue in parts of Lagos.
