EKO HOT BLOG reports that a source on the federation’s board confirmed that Chelle has formally tabled requests ahead of a potential contract renewal, including a significant increase in his monthly salary from $50,000 to $130,000 (Over ₦170 Million), a figure that would also cover his assistants. The proposals are under internal review and will first be examined by the technical committee before being presented to the full board for consideration.
Chelle still has one year remaining on his current contract, but his future has become a topic of debate following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Super Eagles impressed during the tournament, going unbeaten in seven matches and scoring 14 goals—their highest tally in a single AFCON campaign. Their only defeat came via penalties to hosts Morocco in the semi-final.
While NFF President previously expressed a desire to retain Chelle, the coach’s new demands have added a fresh layer to negotiations. “These are fresh demands to be considered for renewal, which remains subject to debate, especially with these terms. This is for the technical committee to review before presenting to the board for approval,” an NFF board member told The Punch.
Chelle’s 19-point proposal includes more than financial adjustments. He is reportedly requesting a private SUV with a chauffeur and security detail, accommodation in a secure area with steady power, a furnished office with a projector for tactical analysis, and influence over friendly matches and team selection. He also seeks structured access to domestic league fixtures for scouting and inclusion of his personal assistant in the bonus and allowance framework.

The review comes amid reported interest from Tunisia, where a salary of about $100,000 per month is on offer, and speculation of opportunities in France. Off the pitch, Chelle recently ended his relationship with former agent Abraham Sidibe and signed with Wilders Sport in Marseille. “It is time for me to take myself to another level. I felt that this agency would give me the required support and advice that I need to do this,” Chelle told UK-based journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.
