Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released to the public, the Chairman emphasized that pedestrian walkways are constructed strictly to ensure the safe and free movement of residents, including school children, the elderly, and other road users.
“The pedestrian walkway is constructed for a specific purpose, to ensure safe and free movement for residents, school children, the elderly, and all road users,” the statement read.
The council noted that the obstruction of walkways by traders not only causes inconvenience but also poses serious safety risks to members of the public.
“The Council will no longer tolerate this violation,” the Chairman declared.
Traders and shop owners were therefore advised to immediately desist from displaying their goods on walkways, as failure to comply will attract sanctions.
“Failure to comply with this directive will attract appropriate sanctions, as law enforcement agencies have been mandated to take proactive and decisive action against defaulters,” the statement added.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining order, ensuring public safety, and promoting a clean and organized environment within the LCDA.
“Eredo LCDA remains committed to maintaining order, ensuring public safety, and promoting a clean and organized environment for all,” the release concluded.
