- INEC Registers Over 1.2 Million Voters in Phase II of CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission has recorded a sharp rise in voter registration under the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, with more than 1.2 million Nigerians completing the process in Phase II as of February 13, 2026.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in an update posted on its 𝕏 handle, the commission disclosed that 1,228,648 eligible citizens successfully registered by Week Six of Phase II. The figure marked a significant increase from the 884,737 recorded at the end of Week Five.
INEC stated that 673,124 prospective voters initiated the process through online pre registration, while 555,524 completed their registration physically at designated centres nationwide.
A state by state breakdown showed that Jigawa recorded the highest number of new registrants at 98,698, representing 8.03 per cent of the total. Lagos followed with 86,307 registrants, while Sokoto and Kano recorded 77,004 and 71,990 respectively.
Providing demographic details, the commission said, “Female – 696,891 (57%); Male – 531,757 (43%). Age Group: Youth (18-34) – 848,066 (69.02%). Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): 19,414 registrants nationwide.”
The data indicated strong participation among women and young Nigerians, who accounted for the majority of new registrants.
INEC noted that the exercise is ongoing nationwide except in the Federal Capital Territory, where it has been temporarily suspended in line with regulations ahead of the February 21, 2026 Area Council elections.

Phase II of the CVR began on January 5, 2026 and will run until April 2026. It follows Phase I, conducted between August and December 2025, which added about 2.78 million voters to the national register.
