The Lagos State Government has announced a comprehensive 64-day traffic management plan to support rehabilitation works on the Epe-bound carriageway of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the plan follows the successful completion of repairs on the Chevron to Admiralty Way stretch of the Lagos-bound carriageway.
Under the new arrangement, the Epe-bound carriageway will be closed from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge in Ajah to allow uninterrupted construction from one intersection to another.
Traffic Diversion Plan
Vehicular movement will be diverted to the Lagos-bound carriageway, with lane allocations adjusted according to peak periods.
Morning peak (5am – 10am): Two lanes will serve Lagos-bound traffic, while one lane will serve Epe-bound vehicles.
Evening/night peak (3pm – 3am): Two lanes will serve Epe-bound traffic, while one lane will serve Lagos-bound vehicles.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, advised motorists to consider using the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road as an alternative route where possible.
Traffic Control Measures
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other traffic personnel will be deployed along the corridor to ensure smooth movement. A tow truck will also be stationed on-site to quickly address breakdowns and emergencies.

Partial closures and restricted traffic flow will take place at strategic intersections during nighttime operations. Affected locations include:
Admiralty Way Junction
Maruwa Intersection
Freedom Way Intersection
Chisco Intersection
Jakande Intersection
Igbo-Efon Intersection
Chevron Intersection
Lekki Conservation Toll Plaza to VGC
VGC to Jubilee Bridge, Ajah
Additionally, all intersections along the corridor will be fully closed for eight hours at night during asphalt laying to guarantee quality work and safety.
Phased Construction Timeline
The Epe-bound rehabilitation will be carried out in clearly defined phases:
Admiralty Way to Maruwa – 1,790m (7 days)
Maruwa to Freedom Way – 1,500m (6 days)
Freedom Way to Chisco – 970m (5 days)
