The Lagos State Government has apprehended 20 individuals for street begging during another round of enforcement operations in the Ikosi-Ketu and Mile 12 corridors.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the arrests were supervised by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources as part of ongoing efforts to restore order and discourage practices that obstruct traffic, endanger residents or compromise sanitation across major highways.

Commissioner for Environment Tokunbo Wahab said KAI officials conducted the sweep across Ketu, Mile 12, Ikosi Road and the 7UP axis, noting that those detained have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for profiling.

He added that the state would continue to intensify enforcement, while collaborating with social welfare agencies on rehabilitation options where necessary.
Wahab urged residents to support the campaign by reporting hotspots where street begging persists.
The latest action follows previous clampdowns, including a similar operation that resulted in 15 arrests in the same areas last November.
