EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawmakers announced their defection during plenary on Friday, marking a major shift in the political landscape of the state assembly.
The Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, led 24 other serving legislators to the Accord Party.
A senior source disclosed that the decision was taken to align with Governor Ademola Adeleke, who had earlier left the PDP for the Accord Party ahead of his 2026 re election bid.
One of the lawmakers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the move had been under consideration since November when the governor joined the Accord Party. However, a final decision was reached following recent developments regarding adjustments to the general election timetable.
Confirming the development, the Speaker’s spokesperson, Olamide Tiamiyu, stated that 25 out of the 26 members of the Assembly had now joined the Accord Party.
He added that more details on the defection would be made public in due course.

The development significantly strengthens the position of the Accord Party in the Osun State legislature ahead of the next election cycle.
