The African Democratic Congress on Tuesday announced the expulsion of its former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala-Gombe, and a member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, over alleged anti party activities.
The decision was taken during the party’s national convention held in Abuja by a faction led by former Senate President David Mark.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the convention, which took place at the Rainbow Event Centre, drew over 3,000 delegates and political stakeholders as the party stepped up preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Mark led faction also announced the expulsion of Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu from the party.
The motion for their expulsion was moved by Binos Yaroe, who represents Adamawa South, and was seconded and adopted by delegates at the convention.
The development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the party, with Bala Gombe and David Mark locked in a dispute over control of the ADC at the national level.
The crisis deepened after the Independent National Electoral Commission removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the party.
INEC also stated that it would not recognise Bala Gombe, who is seeking to be declared national chairman through ongoing court proceedings.
In a statement, the commission said it would suspend recognition of all factions within the party and refrain from monitoring any conventions or congresses organised by the contending groups.
The electoral body added that the decision would remain in effect pending the final determination of a substantive suit before the Federal High Court.
The situation follows a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal in Suit No CA ABJ 145 2026, which has further complicated the leadership dispute within the party.

The conflicting claims to leadership have triggered multiple legal actions, creating uncertainty over the party’s recognised structure as it prepares for future elections.
