An atmosphere of fear has enveloped Isua Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State, following the abduction and killing of a well-known youth in the community.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the victim, Ojo Gbara, popularly called ‘Obesere,’ was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be herders while returning from Ibilo in Edo State a few days ago.

His lifeless body was later discovered in a forest in Igara, Edo State.
Sources said a joint rescue team made up of security personnel, local hunters and community youths found the decomposing remains during a search operation.
The Isua Youth Forum confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Abimbola Oluwafemi. He described the killing as another sign of worsening insecurity in the area and called on Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the state police command to take urgent action.
According to him, residents now live in constant fear due to repeated security breaches along the Ondo–Edo boundary.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime and is currently assisting with investigations.
He added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, has ordered increased surveillance and strategic deployment of officers across the affected communities and border routes to prevent further attacks and apprehend other fleeing suspects.
The police explained that the case was reported at the Isua Division on February 22, 2026, by a resident who alleged that the victim was abducted by armed men while returning from Ibilo. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised patrol teams to the scene, where the victim’s Nissan Almera vehicle was recovered and taken to the station.
Investigations are ongoing as security agencies continue efforts to track down other individuals linked to the incident.
