The event marked a historic moment, being the first time in 37 years that a Nigerian leader has received full state visit honours in the UK.
Addressing guests that included diplomats, political leaders, and key figures from various sectors, King Charles highlighted the growing influence of Nigerians across the UK.
According to him, Nigerians have become an integral part of British life, contributing significantly in areas such as education, business, healthcare, and academia.
He noted that many Nigerians have distinguished themselves in institutions like the National Health Service and universities, while also making an impact through entrepreneurship and innovation.
The King described them as “quiet heroes,” acknowledging their role in shaping modern Britain and enriching its cultural and social landscape.
In a lighter moment, he shared a recent experience from a gathering at St James’s Palace, where he hosted members of the British-Nigerian community.

He joked that he was “firmly assured” that the best jollof rice is Nigerian, a comment that drew attention to the cultural pride and friendly rivalry surrounding the popular West African dish.
Beyond the cultural exchange, the state visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the UK, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, and security cooperation.
The visit is also expected to open new opportunities for foreign investment into Nigeria, especially in infrastructure, energy, and technology, while reinforcing the already strong economic relationship between both countries.
