Sources say concerns had been growing over time, with the suspect allegedly targeting the child on multiple occasions.
The situation came to light when the girl’s grandmother, who also lives in the compound, noticed her entering the suspect’s room and immediately raised an alarm. Neighbours reportedly responded quickly, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Reacting to the incident, the Project Director of Global Promoters for Community Initiatives, Olasukanmi Kalejaiye, described the development as deeply troubling and assured that efforts would be made to ensure justice is served.

Confirming the case, the Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said the report was received at a police division in Minna and that the suspect is currently in custody.
He added that preliminary findings suggest the incident may not have been isolated, as there are indications the victim had been targeted before.
According to him, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, and the suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
Police authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued while urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour, especially involving children.
