The Independent National Electoral Commission has formally acknowledged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
The faction, which enjoys the backing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is now reflected on INEC’s official platform, where Mohammed is listed as the party’s National Chairman, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

Other key officials recognised include the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, National Treasurer Ahmed Mohammed, National Financial Secretary Daniel Woyengikuro, and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN).

The recognition follows the PDP’s national convention held on Sunday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where more than 2,000 delegates from across the 36 states participated in electing new party leaders.
Prominent figures at the event included former Senate President Bukola Saraki, alongside ex-governors Ayodele Fayose, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Samuel Ortom, among others.
The development comes amid an ongoing leadership tussle within the PDP, which has split the party into rival factions. One group, led by Tanimu Turaki and supported by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, continues to challenge the authority of the Wike-backed leadership.

The crisis can be traced to the disputed convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025, which triggered a series of legal battles.
On March 9, the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld an earlier ruling by a Federal High Court that barred the PDP from proceeding with the Ibadan convention.

In its judgment delivered on March 23, the appellate court ruled that the party had breached constitutional guidelines governing such exercises.
Despite the ruling, the Turaki-led faction has taken the matter to the Supreme Court in a bid to overturn the decision, prolonging the internal dispute within the opposition party.
