EKO HOT BLOG reports that the suspect, Udoma David Ekeh, who operates the TikTok handle @davysoft231, had posted the video in December 2025, claiming that operatives from the Ilorin office were attacked and abducted by bandits during an operation in the state.
According to the agency, the video further alleged that the kidnappers demanded ransom from the commission and portrayed the situation as being beyond its control.
The commission said its findings showed that the claims were false and misleading, adding that the content was capable of inciting panic among members of the public.
It noted that the video also created a negative impression about its operations, particularly its ongoing efforts against internet fraud.
The EFCC added that the video gained significant traction on TikTok, attracting thousands of views, likes, and comments, thereby amplifying the false information.
The agency said its investigation led to the arrest of the suspect.
During the investigation, the commission also discovered that Ekeh was allegedly involved in an online scam in which he posed as a foreigner identified as Garg Carta on Facebook to defraud unsuspecting victims.

The EFCC stated that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
