The Lagos State Government has expressed readiness to partner with Russia to strengthen education through research, innovation, and vocational studies, Eko Hot Blog reports.
This was disclosed when the Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, received a Russian delegation on a courtesy visit.

She described Lagos as a leading hub for education and innovation, noting its growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria and Africa.
A representative of MGIMO University, Ekaterina Alexeevna Shuvalova, revealed that Russia is offering scholarships to Nigerian students, adding that a memorandum of understanding has already been signed with the University of Lagos in the area of research.
She explained that students studying the Russian language would have opportunities to travel to Russia for further learning.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, said the state is looking to expand collaboration through exchange programmes involving innovation, teaching, and research.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, emphasised the importance of such partnerships, noting that youths make up about 60 percent of the state’s population.
He added that the government is actively seeking opportunities, both locally and internationally, to empower young people through education and skill development
The engagement signals a broader effort by Lagos to position itself as a global education hub while expanding opportunities for students and researchers.
