President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Shu’aib Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Aliyu takes over from Ahmed Aminu, who stepped down from the role to pursue his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 elections in Adamawa State.

In a related development, the President also approved the renewal of the appointment of Sule Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria for a second and final term.
The appointments take immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Aliyu brings extensive experience in academia, research, and institutional leadership to his new role.
The Presidency said his appointment reflects a commitment to strengthening institutions within Nigeria’s petroleum sector, particularly in the area of human capital development and innovation.

Aliyu is expected to reposition the PTDF to deliver greater impact in supporting the oil and gas industry in line with national priorities.
On Abdulaziz’s reappointment, the statement noted that the decision followed a review of his performance at the helm of the transmission company.
It highlighted improvements recorded under his leadership, including enhanced grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and ongoing system modernisation.
The Presidency also acknowledged his role in promoting regional electricity integration through the West African Power Pool initiative.
President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and integrity, in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
