Students of Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State have announced a 72-hour lecture boycott to protest what they describe as a failing campus transportation system.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the action, set to run from April 14 to April 16, 2026, was agreed upon by the Students’ Union Government after weeks of complaints about movement challenges within and around the campus.

According to the union leadership, the new transport arrangement introduced after vehicles were donated by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has created more problems than it solved. Students say they now face long queues, overcrowded buses, limited routes, and extended waiting times.
The situation, they added, has disrupted daily routines and academic activities, especially for those living off-campus who now depend on fewer and more expensive alternatives.
Despite several meetings with the school management, students said there has been little immediate improvement. While authorities reportedly described the situation as a temporary “teething phase,” many students insist conditions remain difficult.

Among their demands are the introduction of more vehicles to serve the large student population, a temporary return to the previous transport system, and better consultation with student representatives before changes are made.
The union warned that if no meaningful action is taken within the 72-hour boycott period, the protest could escalate into a larger demonstration.
Although the transport initiative was initially welcomed as a step toward modernising campus mobility, students say poor implementation has overshadowed its benefits, leaving many stranded and frustrated.
