Rivers State politician, Blessing Fubara, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Eko Hot Blog reports that it was gathered that the aspirant has obtained both the expression of interest and nomination forms required to participate in the race for the Rivers governorship seat.

Although Blessing Fubara shares a surname and local government origin with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, both being from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, it remains unclear whether the two are related.
Confirming his participation in the governorship race, the Rivers State Chairman of the NDC, Success Jack, said Blessing Fubara had officially picked up his forms in Abuja.
He stated that the party was intensifying preparations ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in its ability to compete across all elective positions in the state.

“Yes, he obtained his expression of interest form in Abuja, and the party is working towards securing victory not only in the governorship election but across all contests in Rivers State in 2027,” Jack said.
The development comes weeks after Blessing Fubara left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the NDC.
Speaking after his reception by NDC National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, and other party stakeholders in Abuja, the governorship hopeful described the NDC as a growing political movement.
He said his decision to join the party was motivated by the need to protect the interests of Rivers people, insisting that the state would witness positive changes after the 2027 elections.
According to him, the future of Rivers State is at a critical stage and requires collective effort to restore its direction.
