The Nigerian Army has restated its commitment to improving operational efficiency through modern technology, better troop welfare, and enhanced training systems following a strategic conference held in Abuja.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Shaibu, disclosed this in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s official X handle, noting that the high-level meeting served as a platform to review ongoing operations and design new strategies to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The conference, held at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Asokoro, focused on strengthening battlefield responses, improving training structures, and aligning the force with modern warfare demands.
According to the Army Chief, the resolutions reached are aimed at building a more agile, combat-ready and technology-driven military capable of responding effectively to emerging threats across the country.
A major highlight of the reforms is the Army’s increased investment in modern warfare tools, including additional tactical drones and the reconfiguration of Army aviation assets for combat operations.

Lieutenant General Shaibu explained that these upgrades have already improved intelligence gathering, precision targeting, mobility, and casualty evacuation across operational theatres.
He also pointed to ongoing reforms in recruitment, advanced training, military education, and leadership development, stressing that discipline, merit, and professionalism remain central to the Army’s transformation agenda.
Reaffirming his “soldier-first” philosophy, the COAS emphasised that troop welfare remains a top priority, describing it as non-negotiable.
“Troop welfare remains non-negotiable; well-motivated soldiers operating in conducive environments are critical to mission success,” he said.
He urged senior officers to ensure full implementation of the conference resolutions in field operations, noting that the success of the meeting will ultimately be measured by results on the battlefield.
Shaibu added that the Army is not just undergoing reforms but is actively building a more lethal, disciplined, and technology-driven force.
He also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of State for Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, other service chiefs, and intelligence agencies for their continued support.
The conference concluded with the presentation of commendation plaques to senior officers recognised for outstanding contributions to operational effectiveness.
