The Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan not to heed calls to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Adediran was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State during the 2023 general elections, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.

He cautioned that Jonathan would be taking a major political risk by contesting against President Bola Tinubu, whom he described as “a master of the game of politics.”
“I disagree with people calling on Jonathan to re-contest,” Jandor said. “It was this same man (Tinubu) who defeated him from the outside. They are not the same. If you accidentally found yourself in Aso Villa, it’s different from someone who gave his all to get there.”
Jandor argued that Jonathan should remain in retirement, insisting that those urging him to re-enter the race were misleading him.
“Such a man as Tinubu cannot be put side by side with somebody who just woke up and found himself as president,” he added.

He urged the former president to listen to his wife, Patience Jonathan, who had previously advised him against contesting again, warning that any attempt to challenge Tinubu in 2027 would amount to a “waste of time.”
According to Jandor, President Tinubu’s political experience, popularity, and achievements make him difficult to defeat at the polls.
“Tinubu’s personality and popularity are intimidating. Jonathan should not risk a humiliating defeat in 2027,” he said.
The Lagos4Lagos leader also praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as bold and transformative. He noted that the removal of the fuel subsidy and the review of fiscal allocations had significantly increased revenue to state and local governments.
“We are not saying all is well, but at least the President has shown courage to take our common patrimony from the pocket of the few and return it to the country,” he said. “Now, allocations have tripled, allowing states and local governments to impact lives.”
Jandor commended the administration for stabilising the foreign exchange market and tackling corrupt practices associated with multiple exchange rates.
“We can no longer have overnight billionaires through forex corruption; this President has stopped that,” he said.
While acknowledging that some of the reforms had caused short-term hardships, Jandor urged state and local governments to utilise their increased revenue to cushion the effects on citizens.
“At the macro level, the economy has taken a positive turn, but it takes time before it trickles down,” he explained.
He also called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to intensify efforts in supporting the President to address the country’s lingering security challenges.
