- An official media aide to former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has strongly denied allegations linking Adelabu’s personal assistant, Ajiboye Sangogade, to the kidnapping of the ex-minister’s younger sister.
- The camp stressed that a recent briefing by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer completely cleared Sangogade. The police only named a suspect identified as Segun.
- Adelabu’s team described the malicious rumours as a calculated attempt to score cheap political points ahead of the 2027 elections. They vowed to take decisive legal action against anyone continuing to spread the false narrative.
Femi Awogboro, the media aide to former Minister of Power and 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, has issued a stern warning to individuals spreading a “fabricated narrative” regarding a recent family tragedy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in an official statement released in Ibadan on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Awogboro explicitly denied rumours claiming that Adelabu’s Personal Assistant, Ajiboye Sangogade, orchestrated the abduction of the ex-minister’s younger sister, Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons, Peter and Paul.

The camp described the allegations as false, malicious, and entirely uncalled for, warning gossip peddlers to desist immediately or face aggressive legal action for defamation of character.
To back his defense, Awogboro pointed directly to the recent official briefing and press interview conducted by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
He emphasized that the police spokesperson completely exonerated Sangogade, as his name was never mentioned during the operational update on the kidnapping syndicate.
The media aide challenged those spreading the false allegations to show exactly where the PPRO implicated Sangogade, noting that the police only linked an individual named Segun to the active case.
Awogboro argued that political detractors are weaponizing the family’s misfortune to tarnish Sangogade’s impeccable reputation and score cheap political points ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
The aide further reminded the public that these same political actors previously fabricated lies claiming Adelabu had unfairly ceded the party ticket for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election to Sangogade, whereas Wale Olatunji ultimately emerged as the party’s legitimate flag bearer.
He urged the general public and APC party faithful to reject these manipulative tricks.

The high-profile kidnapping occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, when armed attackers trailed and intercepted John-Paul’s vehicle at around 7:30 a.m. in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
Following the incident, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, paraded four arrested suspects at the Eleyele Police Headquarters on Sunday, June 7.
Security forces recovered an array of weapons from the gang. These included three pump-action rifles, 14 live cartridges, an unregistered Toyota Corolla used in the operation, face masks, axes, and criminal charms.
In a swift retaliatory strike against organized crime, the state government demolished the kidnappers’ operational hideout on Monday, June 8, and officially revoked the land title.
Adelabu’s camp concluded by stating that they will firmly protect Sangogade’s integrity and ensure that anyone caught spreading further fake news is brought swiftly to justice.
