The specialized clearance drive, which commenced on Friday, June 12, 2026, was specifically designed to sever the tactical infrastructure utilized by heavily armed bandit cells that have continuously disrupted agricultural activities and orchestrated mass abductions across neighboring rural settlements.
According to an official defense bulletin released through the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday, the troops encountered stiff resistance while advancing through the Yanbuki District of Zurmi LGA.
A heavily armed bandit cell opened fire on the military convoy, triggering an intense, high-intensity firefight.
Demonstrating superior tactical positioning and firepower, the troops effectively subdued the attackers, neutralizing one insurgent on the spot while forcing the remaining fighters to retreat into the dense surrounding forestry with severe gunshot wounds.
During the post-battle sweep of the immediate encounter zone, operatives recovered an assortment of operational hardware, including combat rifles, four high-capacity magazines fully loaded with live ammunition, two operational logistics motorcycles, seven functional mobile phones, digital MP3 players, and pieces of military-style woodland camouflage apparel.
Refusing to yield operational momentum, the tactical units maintained relentless pressure on the fleeing elements, tracking their escape route further toward the Sabon Garin Daudawa community.
Terrified by the rapid, aggressive advance of the reinforced military columns, the bandits completely abandoned their primary fortification and scattered into the deeper hinterlands.

Upon securing the perimeter, the troops systematically cleared the entire geographical layout of the base before setting the structures ablaze, completely destroying the camp to permanently deny the criminal network a safe haven or launchpad for future incursions in the sector.
The high point of the tactical breakthrough was the successful extraction of three local citizens who had been held hostage inside the camp under harrowing conditions.
The rescued individuals were immediately pulled from the operational theater by frontline medics and evacuated to a secure military installation for comprehensive medical evaluations, psychological profiling, and eventual reunion with their anxious families.
High-ranking defense commanders have re-emphasized that these aggressive clearance operations will be sustained and expanded throughout the Zamfara axis, utilizing synchronized ground and air strikes until all insurgent infrastructure is completely dismantled and institutional stability is fully restored to the traumatized populace.
