EKO HOT BLOG reports that the operation is currently ongoing across Matazu Local Government Area and neighbouring communities, with troops carrying out sustained patrols, intelligence driven raids, cordon and search operations, and clearance missions targeting identified criminal hideouts.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation Fansan Yamma, Aliyu Danja, the operation commenced on Sunday, June 14, 2026, with the objective of tracking down those responsible for the abduction and death of the retired general while dismantling their networks.
The Defence Headquarters said troops have recorded significant gains in areas including Dikkawa Hills, Adua, Nasarawa, and Karaduwa, where several suspected terrorist camps, logistics bases, and support structures were destroyed.
In a separate development, a DHQ delegation visited the family of the late Rabe Abubakar in Katsina State and also paid a condolence visit to the state government.
The delegation, led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Maj. Gen. I.M. Abdullahi, conveyed condolences from the Chief of Defence Staff, Oluwafemi Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family and the people of Katsina State.
During the visit, Abdullahi described the late officer as a committed and patriotic soldier who made notable contributions to the Nigerian Army and national security architecture throughout his service years.

The military said operations will continue until all responsible criminal elements are neutralised and their networks dismantled.
