Speaking with journalists on Sunday, the father of the deceased, Tunde Bakare, confirmed the development and said the Divisional Police Officer handling the case had assured the family of a thorough investigation.
According to him, the police have promised to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
“The DPO said he would ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated,” he said.
When our correspondent visited the community, residents were seen living in fear, while normal activities had been disrupted following the violent incident.
Findings suggest that the attack may be linked to an earlier confrontation involving a trailer driver and suspected hoodlums along Gbogbo Road.
A resident, who gave his name simply as Fasasi, alleged that tensions began earlier in the day when some youths stopped a trailer carrying a container and demanded money from the driver.

According to him, the driver insisted that payments had already been made to some individuals at a nearby junction, but the youths refused to back down, leading to an altercation.
He further claimed that during the struggle, one of the youths who climbed onto the trailer was trapped under the vehicle and died, with police reportedly describing the incident as an accident that had been resolved.
However, Fasasi alleged that the incident triggered retaliation later in the night.
“In the night, they came on motorcycles and started shooting. They attacked the community, killed people, broke shops and destroyed property,” he said.
He further alleged that one of the victims was killed while closing his shop, while another, a physically challenged child, was also among those killed during the attack. A visitor reportedly in the area at the time was also said to have been killed.
The identities of the other victims had yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Residents said the attack caused widespread panic, forcing many to flee their homes while businesses were shut down abruptly.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Lagos State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to the spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, were not answered at the time of filing this report.
