Former Tunisia coach Mondher Kebaier is expected to take charge of the Carthage Eagles on an interim basis for the remainder of the tournament.
Tunisia will now shift focus to their crucial Group Stage encounter against Japan on June 21, a match they must win to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds alive.
Lamouchi’s tenure lasted just six months after he was appointed head coach in January 2026.
The former Ivory Coast international struggled to turn the team’s fortunes around, overseeing only four matches during his spell in charge. Under his leadership, Tunisia managed just one goal while conceding 11.
The Carthage Eagles began his tenure with a goalless draw against Canada before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Austria. Their struggles deepened with a 5-0 loss to Belgium, leaving the team low on confidence ahead of the World Cup.
Any hopes of a fresh start at the tournament quickly faded against Sweden, who dominated the contest and secured a convincing 5-1 victory.
The defeat proved to be the final blow for Lamouchi, with the federation opting for an immediate managerial change.

Kebaier now faces the task of lifting morale within the squad and preparing the team for a must-win clash against Japan as Tunisia battles to keep its World Cup dream alive.
