- Diezani Alison-Madueke has been acquitted of all six bribery charges in a London court
- The jury cleared her after concluding that the prosecution failed to prove the allegations
- Her co-defendants, including an oil executive and her brother, were also discharged
Former Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been discharged and acquitted of all six bribery allegations brought against her in a London court.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the ruling was delivered on Wednesday at the Southwark Crown Court after a jury cleared her of five counts of receiving bribes and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery.
Alison-Madueke, who served between 2010 and 2015 under former President Goodluck Jonathan, consistently denied the accusations throughout the trial.

Prosecutors had claimed she received luxury benefits from oil and gas industry figures in exchange for influencing the awarding of contracts in Nigeria.
However, she maintained that she neither accepted bribes nor had direct control over contract approvals.

After deliberating for over 46 hours, the jury returned a unanimous not-guilty verdict, leading to her full acquittal.
The outcome also cleared oil executive Olatimbo Ayinde and Alison-Madueke’s brother, Doye Agama, who were both co-accused in the case involving alleged bribery and conspiracy charges.
All defendants denied wrongdoing, and the court ruled in their favor, bringing the long-running corruption case to an end.
