The Lagos State Baales Forum, Epe Division, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, held its maiden executive meeting, during which members unanimously endorsed the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and declared support for the emergence of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as a gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the historic gathering brought together traditional community leaders and Baales from across Epe Division to deliberate on issues affecting grassroots development, community security, traditional leadership, and the future progress of their communities.
Speaking during the meeting, the Divisional Coordinator of the forum, Chief Doherty Qamar Adeniyi, Baale of Olowonifela, reaffirmed the forum’s unwavering support for President Tinubu and Dr. Hamzat, describing them as leaders whose dedication to governance and development has continued to impact lives positively.
Chief Adeniyi stated that the forum remains committed to identifying and supporting leaders whose policies, programmes, and vision align with the aspirations of the people at the grassroots.
He noted that President Tinubu’s contributions to national development and Dr. Hamzat’s record of service to Lagos State have earned them the confidence and support of traditional institutions within Epe Division.
According to him, traditional leaders occupy a strategic position in community development and will continue to support initiatives capable of enhancing the welfare, security, and economic prosperity of residents.
Also addressing the gathering, the Divisional Secretary for Ibeju-Lekki, Chief Oluwa Rosululahi Adewale, commended members for their dedication and commitment to the objectives of the forum.
He stressed the importance of unity among traditional leaders, noting that stronger collaboration would further promote peace, grassroots development, conflict resolution, and effective engagement with government at all levels.
Chief Adewale urged members to continue working together to address common challenges affecting communities across Epe and Ibeju-Lekki divisions while strengthening the traditional institution’s role in governance and community mobilization.
The host of the meeting and Chairman of the Baale-in-Council, Epe Local Government, Chief Ajumoko, welcomed participants and described the maiden executive meeting as a significant milestone in the history of the forum.
He emphasized that the gathering would serve as a platform for fostering stronger relationships among Baales and creating a unified voice on matters affecting local communities.
According to him, traditional institutions remain critical stakeholders in community development and must continue to collaborate in advancing peace, security, and socio-economic growth.
The meeting also featured an interactive session during which members raised concerns and questions regarding issues affecting their various communities. The leadership of the forum provided responses, clarifications, and recommendations aimed at addressing identified challenges and improving the overall well-being of residents.
At the end of the deliberations, members reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively for the advancement of Epe Division, the development of Lagos State, and the continued progress of Nigeria.
The forum also resolved to strengthen cooperation among traditional rulers and community leaders while supporting initiatives and leadership that promote sustainable development, good governance, and grassroots empowerment.
