- New security arrangement introduced to protect electrical infrastructure from vandals.
Residents of Epe Division may soon heave a sigh of relief as the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Wale Raji-Anomo, has assured them that electricity supply will soon be restored across the division.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the council boss made this disclosure on Thursday, June 18, 2026, during a stakeholders’ security meeting organised by his administration.
Addressing participants at the meeting, Hon. Raji-Anomo acknowledged the prolonged blackout experienced across Epe Division and explained that several efforts by local government administrations to restore stable electricity had been frustrated by persistent acts of vandalism.
According to him, cable vandals and other criminal elements have repeatedly sabotaged interventions aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power supply, resulting in the continued outage affecting communities within the division.
“You all know that our administration has done a lot to ensure uninterrupted power supply, but some unscrupulous elements have continued to frustrate our efforts. There has been collaboration between council chairmen in the division on this matter, but several attempts in the past were thwarted due to the activities of cable vandals, which are largely responsible for the blackout we are experiencing today,” he stated.
The chairman, however, expressed optimism that the situation would soon become a thing of the past, revealing that a fresh partnership had been established to safeguard electricity infrastructure across the division.
He disclosed that the three council chairmen in Epe Division Hon. Wale Raji-Anomo of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye of Eredo LCDA, and Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun of Epe Local Government had renewed their collaboration through the Lagos State Ministry of Energy to facilitate the restoration and protection of power facilities.
As part of the arrangement, the councils have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a security company that will be responsible for protecting electrical cables and other power infrastructure from vandalism.
“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a company that will now be in charge of protecting our electric cables and other electrical facilities to ensure their safety and guarantee a stable power supply for our people. If you go around the division, you will observe that work is already progressing swiftly towards restoring electricity,” he added.
The announcement was warmly received by stakeholders at the meeting, many of whom expressed excitement and optimism over the prospect of electricity returning after months of darkness.
Residents across Epe Division are now eagerly awaiting the completion of ongoing works and the restoration of power supply to homes, businesses, schools, and public institutions.
