The Oyo State Government has imposed a curfew in 10 local government areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park as part of measures to address kidnapping and other security threats in the region.
According to the government, the curfew will take effect on Wednesday and run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. for an initial period of 48 hours.

The affected local government areas are believed to be locations around the national park where victims of the May 15 attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area are suspected to be held captive.
A total of 46 persons, including 39 pupils and seven teachers, were reportedly abducted during the incident.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, listed the affected local government areas as Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo and Itesiwaju.
Others are Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba local government areas.
“The curfew is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other security challenges in communities located around the Old Oyo National Park,” the statement said.
The state government urged residents of the affected areas to fully comply with the directive as security agencies intensify operations aimed at restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property.
Authorities expressed confidence that the temporary restriction would support ongoing security efforts and improve the chances of rescuing the abducted victims.

The victims were kidnapped from Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, all located in Oriire Local Government Area.
Security agencies have continued search and rescue operations in the area following the attack.
