She thanked the United States for its message of solidarity, describing it as meaningful during one of the country’s most difficult moments.
The two earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck Venezuela on Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), causing widespread destruction, collapsing buildings and forcing the closure of the country’s main airport.

Rodriguez declared a state of emergency after the disaster and said authorities were still assessing the full extent of the damage, particularly in La Guaira, one of the areas hardest hit by the quakes.
She also disclosed that at least 20 aftershocks had been recorded since the initial earthquakes, raising concerns over additional damage and complicating rescue operations.
Emergency workers, supported by local residents, continued searching through collapsed structures for survivors as thousands of people remained displaced.

Residents described scenes of panic as buildings shook violently, sending people rushing into the streets for safety.
One survivor, Odalis Escalona, said parts of her building collapsed during the quake, forcing occupants to flee as debris fell from the ceiling.
The United States announced it was dispatching search and rescue teams, medical personnel and humanitarian assistance to support relief efforts in Venezuela.
US President Donald Trump also expressed sympathy for the victims, describing the twin earthquakes as devastating and acknowledging the significant loss of lives caused by the disaster.
