The Executive Chairmen of the five Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Epe Division have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining peace, security, and grassroots development through a high-level Security Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Epe Local Government Secretariat.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the strategic meeting brought together traditional rulers, security agencies, community leaders, Baales, High Chiefs, and other critical stakeholders to deliberate on proactive measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the division.
The meeting was jointly hosted by the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI; Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa; Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye; Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Akogun Wale Raji Anomo; and Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Hon. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali.
Leading the traditional institution was the Paramount Ruler of Epe Division, His Royal Majesty Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, Arolugbade, the Oloja of Epe Land, Chairman of the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Epe Division, and Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
The meeting was attended by royal fathers from across Epe Division, including the Elejirin of Ejinrin Kingdom, the Onilekki of Lekki Kingdom, the Onimedu of Orimedu, the Gbadewolu of Araromi, the Alakodo of Akodo, the Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri, the Abowa of Agbowa-Ikosi, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi Kingdom, the Ayanadelu of Ayandelu, the Onisolu of Solu-Alade, the Adegbajo of Odogbawojo, alongside several Baales and High Chiefs representing communities across the division.
Also in attendance were representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), the Tactical Team, IBILE Vigilante Group, the Hunters Association, and other community-based security outfits.
Addressing participants, Oba Animashaun stressed that security is a collective responsibility requiring close collaboration among traditional institutions, local government authorities, security agencies, and residents.
The paramount ruler emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering, information sharing, community policing, vigilance, and youth engagement as essential strategies for maintaining peace and preventing crime across Epe Division.
He commended the efforts and sacrifices of security personnel while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
Participants also discussed ways to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, improve community-security relations, and adopt proactive measures capable of addressing emerging security challenges while creating an enabling environment for sustainable socio-economic development.
At the end of the meeting, stakeholders unanimously resolved to deepen cooperation among traditional rulers, local government councils, security agencies, and community leaders through sustained engagement, intelligence sharing, and coordinated action.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to continue working together to preserve peace, enhance security, and accelerate grassroots development across communities in Epe Division.
The gathering reaffirmed the shared belief that a secure Epe Division remains fundamental to achieving lasting prosperity and sustainable development for its people.
