According to an official security statement released on Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the breakthrough was achieved due to an early intelligence exploit.
Defense intelligence networks caught wind of advanced plans by the heavily armed group to invade and pillage Sabarumawa.
Acting swiftly on this high-priority information, operational commanders mobilized the Chief of Army Staff’s Intervention Battalion 7, deploying the elite personnel to lay a tactical ambush along the exact route of advance the insurgents were using.
The operational strategy proved flawless as the armed fighters walked directly into the military’s designated kill zone.
Upon making contact, the infantrymen engaged the incoming terrorists with overwhelming, superior firepower, triggering a fierce and chaotic gun battle. Caught off guard by the precision of the military’s trap, the insurgents’ operational structure quickly disintegrated.

While two of the armed fighters were instantly neutralized on the field, the surviving members of the gang abandoned their offensive objectives and fled with various degrees of gunshot wounds into the dense canopy of the adjacent forest.
A thorough post-battle sweep of the immediate area revealed significant battlefield recoveries, proving that a major attack had indeed been prevented. The victorious troops recovered two AK-47 assault rifles, two fully loaded AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of live ammunition, and an operational motorcycle used by the group for rapid transit.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja reiterated the military high command’s unwavering resolve to sustain its offensive momentum across the geopolitical zone, while strongly urging members of the public to continually feed security agencies with timely, verified information to permanently secure the North-West corridor.
