President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday officially bid farewell to Team Nigeria ahead of the country’s participation in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the send-off ceremony will take place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the President is expected to encourage the athletes and officials as they prepare to represent Nigeria on the international stage.

Tinubu is expected to urge the contingent to compete with determination, discipline and pride while upholding the country’s image throughout the competition.
Following the ceremony, Team Nigeria will depart the country on Friday for Aberdeen, Scotland, where they will undergo a 3-week training camp before moving to Glasgow for the Games.

Nigeria will be represented by 74 athletes competing in 10 sports at the Commonwealth Games, scheduled to hold from July 23 to August 2.
The athletes have been in camp in Abuja, undergoing intensive preparations as they fine-tune their readiness for the competition.
Team Nigeria will be aiming to improve on its impressive performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where the country emerged as Africa’s highest-ranked nation, winning 35 medals comprising 12 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze.
