Following an intense, multi-day tactical operation that spanned across state lines, the mother and son were safely liberated from the clutches of their captors in a dense forest area in neighboring Kwara State.
The successful operation, which culminated in the early hours of Saturday, July 4, 2026, was executed through a joint effort combining local intelligence and the tactical support of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to an official statement released by Sunday Igboho’s media office, the operation lasted approximately three days and relied heavily on precise tracking and undercover intelligence gathering.
The security operatives managed to pinpoint the location of the criminal gang after trailing them through difficult terrains across regional boundaries.
Detailing the harrowing experience and the strategic execution of the rescue mission, Chief Sunday Adeyemo disclosed that he and members of his Iru Ekun Security Network, alongside a police team led by ASP Amos Ajegoke, spent days inside the thick forest tracking the movements of the heavily armed hoodlums.
The breakthrough came on Thursday, July 2, when intelligence confirmed that the kidnappers had moved their hostages to the Bode Sadu axis, just before Jebba in Kwara State.
The rescue team immediately mobilized to the area, maintaining a stakeout and staying embedded in the wilderness until Friday night to avoid tipping off the suspects.
The confrontation reached its peak around midnight on Saturday when the kidnappers emerged from hiding to collect a pre-arranged ransom, which had been used as bait by the security operatives to lure them out into the open.
Upon making contact, the joint security forces launched a decisive attack against the hoodlums, resulting in a fierce and prolonged exchange of gunfire in the dark forest.
Overpowered by the superior firepower and tactical positioning of the security team, the kidnappers fled deeper into the wilderness under the cover of night, leaving behind a trail of blood which indicated they had sustained severe bullet wounds.
During a subsequent sweep of the area, the team heard the desperate cries of the victims shouting for help and successfully located where they had been abandoned by their fleeing captors.
Following their rescue, Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and Abdulmalik were immediately evacuated from the forest and rushed to the Igboho General Hospital, where they are currently receiving comprehensive medical treatment and psychological support to help them recover from the trauma of the abduction.

Sunday Igboho highly commended the institutional support received during the operation, expressing profound gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu.
He noted that the Inspector General played a pivotal role by maintaining constant communication with the Commissioners of Police in both Kwara and Niger states, a synergy that seamlessly bridged logistical gaps and ensured the arduous operation ended in total success.
Reiterating his unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, Igboho assured residents of the Oke-Ogun region and Oyo State at large that all lawful resources would continue to be deployed to maintain peace and combat criminality.
He further urged members of the public to remain calm, support legitimate security initiatives, and refrain from disseminating unverified rumors that could incite panic within the community.
