The theatrical successes, which were officially detailed on July 9, 2026, underline the pressure being maintained by the Nigerian military against lingering terrorist cells.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer for the Headquarters North-East Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Mohammed Goni, the six ISWAP fighters abandoned their enclaves in the rugged Mandara Mountains within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The defecting fighters and their family members surrendered directly to troops of the 192 Battalion (Main), Sector 1, following intensified military sweeps in the general area.
Preliminary investigations indicate they fled from the Guduf Bubayagwa and Chikide hideouts. Upon their surrender, troops recovered the sum of ₦1,541,500 in cash, along with mobile phones and other logistics items.
Simultaneously, the military demonstrated its defensive resilience by crushing a coordinated assault launched by ISWAP elements targeting the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani, situated in the Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The insurgents launched a high-intensity raid, briefly breaching a section of the base’s defensive perimeter. However, the troops rapidly regrouped and initiated a fierce counter-offensive, pushing back the attackers and forcing them to retreat into the bush with severe gunshot wounds.
Regrettably, one soldier paid the supreme price during the heavy gun battle, while two gun trucks and some combat enablers sustained damage. Reinforcements have since been deployed to Logomani to solidify defense infrastructure and secure the sector.
Beyond the battlefield confrontations, Operation Hadin Kai has made significant strides in choking off the complex logistics networks that keep these insurgent factions functional.

Lt. Col. Mohammed Goni used the opportunity to issue a term warning to merchants, communities, and individuals who assist these terrorist groups by supplying them with food, fuel, medication, or construction materials.
He emphasized that anyone caught aiding or abetting insurgents will face the full weight of the law, reiterating that the military will maintain its unwavering resolve until every single abducted individual across the North-East theatre is rescued and safely reunited with their families.
