The Lagos State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has criticised the quality of governance in the state, alleging that Lagos has not had an administration that consistently places the welfare of its residents at the centre of its policies over the past two decades.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Rhodes-Vivour made the remarks in a post shared on his verified X account on Wednesday while commenting on the 2027 Lagos governorship election.

According to him, the upcoming election should focus on the realities experienced by residents rather than political messaging or publicity campaigns.
He argued that effective governance should be evident in the daily lives of citizens and should not require excessive promotion to be appreciated.
The ADC candidate said Lagosians ought to experience tangible improvements in their living conditions, including cleaner surroundings, better road infrastructure and more reliable public services.
He maintained that residents deserve streets free from heaps of refuse, roads that remain in good condition throughout the rainy season, and emergency response services capable of protecting every life regardless of economic status.
Rhodes-Vivour also stressed the need for a stronger education system that equips children with the skills required for both present and future challenges.
He further advocated for an efficient transport network that reduces commuting time and a tax system that delivers visible benefits to taxpayers.
According to him, government should simplify the lives of citizens through competent leadership instead of making daily living more difficult because of poor governance.
He concluded by urging voters to prioritise competence, quality service delivery and measurable results over political slogans and public relations campaigns as they prepare for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
