The Transmission Company of Nigeria has discovered the body of a suspected vandal beneath a collapsed transmission tower in Delta State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line, where TCN linesmen found the corpse during an inspection of the power infrastructure.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, TCN said the discovery was made by its Delta Sub-Region Lines Maintenance Department during an intensive patrol of the transmission line.
The patrol was launched after the Ughelli-Benin line tripped following an earth fault.
According to the company, the team traced the fault to Tower 101 and found that the structure had collapsed, with the body of the suspected vandal trapped beneath its metal members.
Further inspection also revealed that Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli-Sapele 330kV transmission line had been extensively vandalised.
TCN said the second tower remained standing at the time of the inspection despite the damage inflicted on it.
The company condemned the vandalism and warned that tampering with electricity infrastructure poses serious risks to lives while also disrupting power supply and damaging national assets.
TCN urged residents of host communities and members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around transmission lines and other power installations to security agencies or the nearest TCN office.
The company stressed that protecting power infrastructure required the cooperation of communities, security agencies and the general public.
“This incident is a tragic reminder of the extreme dangers of tampering with power infrastructure,” TCN said.
The company added that vandalism not only causes power outages but also puts the lives of those involved and members of surrounding communities at risk.
TCN called on the public to support efforts to protect electricity infrastructure and prevent further acts of vandalism.
