The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, has claimed that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is losing political influence in the state ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Oyetola made the statement on Saturday while speaking to supporters and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State.
His comments followed allegations by Adeleke that APC members and leaders of the Accord Party were facing intimidation ahead of the election.
Speaking in Yoruba, the minister argued that the governor’s complaints suggested he was becoming aware of his declining political control in the state.
Oyetola also dismissed the impact of Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu, insisting that such political support would not prevent the APC from taking control of the state.
According to him, Adeleke had realised that his political position was weakening and was now seeking ways to retain power.
The minister said the APC was determined to win the election, regardless of any endorsements made by the governor.
Oyetola further said Adeleke had frequently mentioned his name despite his decision not to engage the governor in public exchanges.
He mocked the governor’s repeated references to him, saying Adeleke appeared to blame him for virtually every problem confronting him.
The former Osun State governor maintained that he had deliberately stayed away from public confrontations with Adeleke but warned that the situation could change if he decided to respond.
