Chinasa, popularly known as Dogo, declared his support for the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, during a gathering of APC stakeholders in Owerri, Imo State.

The meeting was convened by Hope Uzodinma as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s presence in the South East.
His defection is seen as notable due to his position in the Labour Party led administration in Abia, where he served as a key link between the state government and federal lawmakers.
The move also represents a shift in political stance, as Chinasa had previously contested against Kalu for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 elections and had been one of his critics.
Reacting to the development, Kalu welcomed Chinasa into the APC, describing the move as a sign that more influential figures may join the party in the coming months.

He assured the new entrant of acceptance within the party and encouraged members and aspirants to remain focused and committed as future elections approach.
Chinasa has not yet publicly explained the reasons behind his decision to switch parties.
