The All Progressives Congress has scheduled its primary elections for Saturday, August 22, 2026, to choose candidates for four recently restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as several legislative bye-elections across four states.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the party released the timetable on Wednesday in a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu.

The schedule followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to restore four State House of Assembly constituencies that had previously been excluded from electoral representation in Delta and Kogi.

In Delta State, the affected constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is the restored constituency in Kogi State.
The APC timetable also covers legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states. The affected seats include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi, Udu State Constituency in Delta and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.
According to the party’s schedule, aspirants can obtain expression of interest and nomination forms between Tuesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 20. Completed forms and supporting documents must also be submitted by August 20.
Screening of aspirants, release of screening outcomes and consideration of appeals arising from the screening will take place on Friday, August 21.

The primary elections will then be conducted on Saturday, August 22, with appeals arising from the primaries scheduled for Monday, August 24.
The party fixed the total cost of participation for State House of Assembly aspirants at N6 million, comprising N1 million for the expression of interest form and N5 million for the nomination form.
For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest form costs N1 million, while the nomination form attracts N9 million, bringing the total to N10 million.
The APC also provided concessions for female aspirants, young people and persons living with disabilities. According to the party, candidates in those categories will pay the full expression of interest fee but only half of the prescribed nomination fee.
The party directed all aspirants to make their payments in full into its designated bank account.
The restoration of the four constituencies in Delta and Kogi followed court judgments that paved the way for INEC to reinstate them.

The constituencies had remained excluded from representation for several years, leaving affected communities without elected members in their respective State Houses of Assembly.
The APC’s latest timetable therefore provides a framework for selecting candidates ahead of the elections expected to fill the previously vacant representation.
The party’s primary schedule also covers the legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano, including the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, where the seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.
