The former Rivers State governor said he was not concerned about how the opposition politicians respond to his actions, adding that his focus was on making the political contest more difficult for them.

Wike also dismissed claims that Nigeria currently has a dominant opposition party, arguing that the political crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party has weakened its position.
He said the PDP would ordinarily have been regarded as the country’s leading opposition party but that its internal challenges had prevented it from playing that role effectively.
According to the minister, political competition is not about making opponents comfortable but about gaining an advantage over them.

Wike said he intended to sustain the pressure on Atiku, who is the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, and Obi, who is also seeking the presidency, as the country approaches the 2027 elections.
He maintained that the feelings or reactions of the two politicians were not his concern, insisting that he was prepared to make the political environment even more challenging for them.
The minister’s comments come amid increasing political realignments and tensions among opposition politicians and parties ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
