According to a statement by LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, preliminary investigation showed that the accident was caused by reckless driving and wrongful road use by the two truck drivers.
The agency said the FAW truck reportedly collided with the Iveco truck while both drivers were allegedly struggling for right of way.
The impact caused the Iveco truck to hit the dispatch rider from behind, resulting in his death.
“Sadly, the dispatch rider lost his life in the incident,” LASEMA said.

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Okota Division evacuated the deceased’s remains and deposited them at the morgue for identification and further necessary procedures.
The two trucks were subsequently removed from the main carriageway and parked at a designated lay-by to prevent further obstruction and ensure the free flow of traffic.
LASEMA said the emergency operation was successfully concluded and the road was declared safe for motorists and other road users.
Oke-Osanyintolu commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged commercial drivers to desist from reckless driving, wrongful overtaking and competing for lanes.
He stressed that road safety remains a collective responsibility and urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
