The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced the arrival of Brandon Hudspeth as the new Consul General at the US Consulate General in Lagos.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Hudspeth is returning to Nigeria after previously serving as the Consulate’s Political-Economic Section Chief between 2020 and 2022. He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Namibia.

A career US diplomat, Hudspeth has extensive international experience, having served in the Philippines, Mali, Cuba and Afghanistan. He has also held assignments at the US Department of State’s Operations Centre and Bureau of African Affairs in Washington.
The US Mission said his appointment would contribute to efforts to strengthen diplomatic and bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States.
“We’re excited to welcome Brandon Hudspeth as the new Consul General at U.S. Consulate General Lagos, returning to Nigeria after previously serving as the Consulate’s Political-Economic Section Chief,” the mission said.
Hudspeth said he was honoured to return to Lagos and looked forward to reconnecting with old friends, building new partnerships and deepening the relationship between both countries.
“I am honoured to return to Lagos as the U.S. Consul General. I know firsthand the strength of the U.S.-Nigeria partnership and the extraordinary energy, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial spirit that Nigerians and Americans share,” he said.
Hudspeth is expected to serve a 3-year tenure as the senior US government representative across the 17 states in southern Nigeria.
He succeeds Rick Swart, who retired from the US Foreign Service in July.
