Federal High Court has sacked Iya-Abbas as PDP Senatorial candidate.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Aminu Iya-Abbas has been sacked as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Adamawa Central Senatorial District for the 2023 general elections.
The Federal High Court in Yola, Adamawa State, gave the verdict on Monday after declaring null the election that produced the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly as the PDP candidate.

Mohammed Modibbo had initiated the suit against Iya-Abbas and four other PDP members.
In his ruling on Monday, Justice Abdulaziz Anka voided the senatorial primary for Adamawa Central conducted by the PDP.
The judge held that the participation of the fourth defendant, Chairman of Governing Council Adamawa State University, Auwal Tukur, as a political appointee without compliance with the new Electoral Act 2022 violated the process; hence the entire process was nullified.
Iya-Abbas, however, has the option to appeal.
Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Monday reinstated Ladi Adebutu as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State.
The appellate court, in its ruling, also reinstated others candidates of the party in Ogun State.
This online media platform gathered that the Court of Appeal set aside the ruling of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abeokuta, which nullified the primaries of the PDP.
Recall that Justice O. Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court had nullified the candidacy of Adebutu and other candidates of PDP in Ogun State.
The judge passed the ruling following a suit filed by Segun Seriki and others.
However, Justice Folasade Ojo on Monday ruled that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has the power to nominate and conduct a primary election.
The court ruled that any primary held without the approval of the party’s NWC is null and void. The earlier ruling of the Federal High Court was set aside for lack of jurisdiction.
Justice Ojo directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reinstate all PDP candidates.
