- The Senate President urged the public to ignore the false post.
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has denied reports claiming he made a reckless statement against former United States President Donald Trump.
A media platform had published a post alleging that Akpabio insulted Trump, urging him to focus on America’s problems instead of commenting on Nigeria’s affairs. However, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President described the claim as a fabrication by mischief-makers.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Eyiboh stated that the quote attributed to Akpabio “The killing is taking place in Nigeria not in USA, Trump should focus on US. Nigerians are not complaining about the killings, we are fully satisfied with the condition of Nigeria” was entirely false. He said it was a deliberate attempt to create tension between Akpabio, Trump, and Nigeria’s international partners.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and completely fabricated post published by a platform, falsely attributing a reckless and imaginary statement to the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Senate President never made such a statement — not publicly, privately, in writing, or in conversation. We challenge the publishers of this falsehood to produce a single shred of evidence to the contrary.”
Eyiboh added that the accompanying photo of Akpabio used by the publication was taken from an unrelated official event and only used to give false credibility to a fake story.
He emphasized that Akpabio is a statesman and a strong advocate of diplomacy and international friendship. According to him, the Senate President holds Donald Trump in high regard and would never comment on internal matters of another country.

The statement urged Nigerians and the international community to disregard the false report, describing it as “an act of digital recklessness” aimed at creating unnecessary diplomatic tension.
Eyiboh reaffirmed that Akpabio’s office remains committed to truth, transparency, and responsible communication within Nigeria and abroad.
