EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Amaechi, who played a key role in Wike’s political rise, questioned Wike’s loyalty and humility. He challenged the FCT Minister to a public popularity contest to test who truly enjoys the support of the people.
“Let the Minister of the FCT come, let’s take a walk from the airport to Port Harcourt, no police, no army, nothing, just the two of us,” Amaechi said, suggesting a barebones street walk to gauge public support without security escorts.
The former governor expressed disappointment over Wike’s consistent display of disrespect despite their political history.
“I don’t know why he doesn’t respect people like us. I am older. I brought him up in politics. Who is he?” Amaechi asked during the interview.
In a significant political move, Amaechi also confirmed his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he helped establish in 2013.
“I am no longer in APC. I resigned on Tuesday,” he announced.

Naija News understands that Amaechi has now joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party recently adopted by a coalition opposing President Bola Tinubu.
Amaechi’s exit from the APC marks a critical moment in his political career and is expected to further shift alliances within the national political landscape.
