The four arrested suspects include 21-year-old Chinyere Ekwenugo, who is accused of conspiring with others to kill the older woman.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that Ekwenugo confessed during interrogation that her boyfriend, Ifeanyi Igwe, who remains on the run, was the mastermind behind the crime. Ekwenugo, along with three other suspects, Uzochukwu Okeke, 47, Fidel Anayo, 60, and Ikenna Anene, 54, reportedly set the victim ablaze before attempting to bury her with a casket.
According to the police, the suspects were interrupted before they could complete their gruesome task, and authorities swiftly intervened.

In their possession, police recovered the victim’s burnt remains, a wheelchair, and the casket.
While the suspects have been apprehended, Igwe, the primary suspect, is still at large. The body of the victim has been taken to the morgue for an autopsy and further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, Nnaghe Itam, has expressed his concerns about the tragedy and ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further in-depth investigation.
In a separate operation, police operatives from the anti-cult unit arrested 25-year-old Maduka Okoye of Abagana on Saturday afternoon.

Okoye, who confessed to being a member of the Baggars Confraternity, explained that his group was attacked by the Axe Men Confraternity while he was drinking at a beer parlor. The police acted swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating into a full-blown cult war and have since restored calm to the area.
The suspects involved in the cult-related violence are being interrogated, with further arrests expected as the police continue their investigation.
