The youths of Igboukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have rescued a young man who was allegedly chained by his father for five years.

However, the youths later uncovered that the young man had been secretly held captive. Their intervention led to his rescue, while the police arrested the father.
The victim, identified as Chogbo and popularly called Agudo, is said to be responding well to treatment and showing signs of recovery.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a full investigation into the matter. He praised the youths for their vigilance, describing their action as a model of community policing.
In an official statement, the police command noted:

“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed operatives to investigate a troubling report about a young man, Chogbo, also known as Agudo, from Igboukwu, who was allegedly chained by his father for five years under the false claim that he had travelled abroad.
Preliminary investigations are underway to confirm the facts, protect the victim’s welfare, and ensure that anyone responsible is prosecuted according to the law.
The victim has since been rescued and is receiving the necessary care.”
The Command commended the youths of Igboukwu for their proactive role in exposing the case, describing their action as an outstanding example of community collaboration in policing.
