The case was prosecuted under the ongoing anti-drug campaign led by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, which has intensified its operations across the country.
In the same court, two other drug traffickers, Etinosa Bazuaye and Godfrey Osabuohien, were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each for related offences, with options of fines imposed in their cases.
The presiding judge, Justice B. Quadiri, warned that drug trafficking fuels serious crimes such as armed robbery and banditry, stressing the need for strict punishment to deter offenders.

Reacting to the judgments, the Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, commended the court for what he described as a firm and decisive stance against drug-related crimes.
He said the convictions reflect the agency’s renewed commitment under its leadership to dismantle drug networks and prosecute offenders, adding that Edo State remains “hostile territory” for drug traffickers.
The NDLEA also called on the public to support its operations by providing credible information, as it continues efforts to combat illicit drug activities across the country.
