Spokesperson of the agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the victim was travelling with two others in a white Toyota Camry when the car collided with a moving truck.
“A fatal road traffic accident occurred at the Christopher University section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 17:48 hours on March 23,” Akinbiyi said.
“According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of the Camry drove at excessive speed and rammed into a moving truck. Three people were involved, including a male and two females. One female died, while the two others sustained injuries.”
Preliminary findings revealed that the deceased and one of the injured passengers had just arrived from the United Kingdom and were on their way from Lagos to Abeokuta for a wedding ceremony when the accident happened.
The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Famobis Hospital and Redeemed Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Redeemed Hospital morgue.

The agency expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and used the opportunity to warn motorists against reckless driving.
“Drivers are again admonished to avoid excessive speed in view of its attendant consequences,” the statement added.
The incident comes months after Anthony Joshua was involved in a similar crash along the same stretch of road, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on the busy expressway.
